GRAEF Project Recognized in SEAOI "Fifty Significant Projects in Fifty Years"
In GRAEF’s submittal, we noted that the project made exceptional use of concrete, glass, and steel, pushing these materials to their limits to create spectacular cantilevered structures with no equal. With its free-form concrete shapes that were revolutionary when it was constructed, the Santiago Calatrava masterpiece is a structural engineering wonder that won national and international awards, as well as being named Time Magazine’s No. 1 design of 2001. It required unusual technical solutions and construction techniques for its many complex elements, including the Brise Soleil mechanics and structural design. It is an example of the great effect a structural masterpiece can have on a city.
Congratulations to the entire project team, led by John Kissinger and Loei Badreddine, for the continued recognition of the true Milwaukee landmark!
