Engineering Energy, Challenging Control and Distributing Power
Midwest Energy Research Consortium, mostly commonly referred to as “M-WERC” is located in the heart of Milwaukee but serves the entire region. Their vision is to make the Midwest the Leader in Energy, Power and Controls. They are extending their outreach efforts further than Wisconsin by introducing businesses and engaging in more collaborative events with other states. One of their most recent, forward-thinking and hands-on endeavor is WERCBench Labs.
Once a year a handful of modernizers, startups and early-stage enterprises are selected to converge on a 3-month passage with builders, originators and entrepreneurs. The program brings together international ventures, technical colleges and universities that share an appetite for creation. Probers and Designers across all subsidy phases team together for business centered goals and are provided superior performance computing, exclusive production aptitudes, express prototyping amenities, testing gear and small scale assembly. This riveting, mentor- driven program focuses on Energy, Drones, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR-VR), Internet of Things (I-O-T), Robotics and 3D Printing.
Jason R. Gerke, P.E., LEED® AP the Mechanical/Plumbing Group Leader with GRAEF, a full service Engineering firm, commented, “I am very excited to be involved as a mentor with the WERCBench Labs program at MWERC. This program will give startup companies the opportunity to gain real-world experience through advice from our team of mentors. This program has a particular interest for me because it accounts for the whole process of invention, from concept to testing and finally production.” The WERCBench Labs’ website boasts “from concept to customer- we have the expertise.” Designing, simulation, rapid prototyping and building/distribution are specially approached with customizable solutions.
The adoration and commitment found within this conglomerate of industry know-it-alls is unmatched and the opportunities afforded are unparalleled. Their passion is unmatched and the support they contribute includes advice and connections for team building, storytelling, PR, customer acquisition and marketing, business modeling, design, legal and more! Steve Blank’s Customer Development Methodology has become notably one of the best practices for innovation. This has become a cornerstone principle for WERCbench Labs and they are recognized around the world for teaching the methodology.
One could even say WERCbench Labs “Work for Energy” as they are “Working on the future of Energy, Power & Control.” Industry contenders who share their mission and dedication for growing the EPC industry should join in strengthening the creation of a new and better energy future for our region and our country.
