GRAEF ENGINEERS HONORED BY STEM FORWARD
MILWAUKEE – John Goetter, Principal and Vice President of GRAEF’s Milwaukee office has received the 2014 Professional Engineer of the Year Award from STEM Forward. The organization also named Bridget Henk, Project Engineer at GRAEF’s Milwaukee office, as its Young Engineer of the Year. STEM Forward is southeastern Wisconsin’s leading technical organization committed to providing and promoting educational outreach programs that emphasize science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Goetter has spent the majority of his 44-year career at GRAEF in charge of the Milwaukee office’s facilities group. His experience includes well-known government, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Over the years, he has led projects for the Midwest Airlines Center, the General Mitchell International Airport Parking Structure Addition and Concourse D Expansion, UWM School of Architecture, the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, and numerous building and transportation projects for Milwaukee County. Goetter retired from GRAEF at the end of 2014.
“John’s enthusiasm and passion for the industry are contagious and his knowledge, technical strategy and expertise set him apart,” said John Kissinger, CEO of GRAEF. “He is constantly challenging himself to be in step with the latest trends and opportunities for advanced learning.”
In the past year, Henk has taken on complex design roles and is also taking a leadership role in refining the standards of GRAEF’s stormwater management group. Recently, Henk contributed to the drainage analysis for the Lakefront Gateway. She has also served as a design engineer for the Milwaukee Avenue Utility and Street Reconstruction in Wauwatosa and the Community Memorial Hospital Expansion in Menomonee Falls. Henk is passionate about sustainability and improving the way society thinks about green infrastructure, a passion that is carried over into her work at GRAEF.
“Bridget’s drive and commitment to the industry set her apart,” said Kissinger. “We look forward to seeing how her career continues to unfold. I think she has a very bright future ahead of her.”Goetter and Henk were honored at the annual Engineers Week Banquet on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Italian Conference Center. This event traditionally kicks off National Engineers Week (22-28).
