GRAEF Welcomes Externs in March 2013
GRAEF is pleased to welcome Andre Rosteing and Frank Zimmerman to the firm’s Milwaukee office from March 17 through March 21. The two University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee architecture students will be participating in an Externship Week with the Planning and Urban Design group. What exactly is an Externship? During their days at GRAEF, Andre and Frank will shadow employees, giving them an opportunity to experience daily life in a professional environment related to their chosen area of study. The students do not receive compensation or class credit, but they do get an opportunity to see “a week in a life” of a professional Planner.
Andre and Frank will shadow a professional, Larry Witzling, while he goes about his daily work responsibilities. In addition, the Planning and Urban Design group has lined up activities that give the students a real taste of working as a planning consultant. Among the activities that the students may be tasked with are performing simulations on new public participation software programs, developing 3D images, and researching pedestrian activities in an urban environment. All of these projects represent extremely useful information and an excellent learning opportunity. The work, while providing a taste of daily life in a consulting firm, will also provide valuable resource information for GRAEF.
Keep your eyes open as we chronicle the adventures of Andre and Frank during their Externship Week!
